Born on the beach of California, the small fiberglass dune buggy was great for open air beach going or other off-roading.  The original was a simple VW Beetle cut down to fit and it was so popular, seems everyone copied the original. The original, the Manx, was created by Bruce Manx and it can be seen with Steve McQueen behind the wheel and Elvis also drove one in a movie...both men kept it after the movie wrapped! Ever want to just get out and see how fast your ride will go?  No speed limits in a safe, or as safe as possible scenario? Twice a year, you can almost do that at an event called the Texas Mile.  A top speed event where you can run what you brung ... if it meets safety requirements.  Don't need anyone hurt, so some basic safety rules have to be in place. Shannon Matus joins us with more on this event, where there have been as many as 162 vehicles registered to go fast, but only 26 actually went over 200 mph.  That means that is you have a helmet, a seat belt, a vehicle that will pass safety inspection for everyone's protection, and you can prove you are of sound body, you can literally go as fast as you want.  Check this out! We all, almost all, appreciate a good performance automobile, whether that is straight line performance or in the curves. A lot of people look down on the performance of electric vehicles, that is, until they feel that bottom end torque. EV motors are like any other electric motor, the power is there so the torque is all on from the get go. When the EV is really built towards the performance aspects, it can be pretty impressive. There was a time when small trucks were embedded in all facets of life. Small companies needed small vehicles for parts runners, pool companies, and even first time vehicle buyers looking for cheap truck transportation. The new generation of small truck from Ford is filling a gap that has existed since the demise of the mini trucks, like the Ford Ranger. As the mini trucks grew in size, they finally outgrew the segment and became extinct, like the dinosaur.
