1932 Ford's are classic hot rod material, particularly with a flathead engine. But what do you do for more power? After all the flathead is good for about 100hp, and you don't want to go to some modern big block with a blower. Yep, there are still plenty of family owned businesses, and the Emmons Autoplex is a great example of what a family can do. First getting started in 1975, the business is now ran by the four Emmons brothers - three of which are triplets. In addition to that, all four are NHRA Sportsman drag racers. Today we are joined with Jerry, and we are catching up on the racing action from Las Vegas, as well as the NHRA Finals in Pomona. Once a year, for 61-years, the Houston Autorama has brought out some of the best custom cars in the Houston Area and across the country. As the quality of the vehicles have gone up, so has the awards that are available. The event is traditionally over the Thanksgiving Weekend, giving some time during the week and across the weekend for attendees. For several years, the event is housed at the George R. Brown Center, adjacent to the Discovery Green area that is being created downtown Houston. Steve Green, who oversees the Houston and the Dallas Autorama, is here with an update on the sold out event. Maybe not every automotive enthusiast has wanted a Monster Tuck at some time or another, but a whole bunch of us did. We went to the events, cheered on our favorites as they crushed lesser vehicles and flew across the event. Donuts are a time a dozen and it is one wheel stands. Craig Meaux is a monster truck lover, and he decided to do something about it. Working in his home shop during his spare time, for 20 months, he finally learned enough to come up with this rad ride. After putting it through some mud bogs, this is a driver after all, Craig got enticed to take it into the big city, Houston. It was here that he was able to get some big attention and now the Texas Toot is going to be a real Hot Wheels car! In the pre-owned segment, or used cars as they are more likely called, there is always the unknown. A person can bring in mechanics to go over a vehicles, but there is only so much they can look at and find in a parking lot. What about the vehicle history? How many owners? Accidents? Maintenance? There are some things here that might influence a buying decision, at the very least, the more information a buyer has the better his decision can be. This is where CarFax comes in. This company tries to learn as much as it can by gathering data from any source it can. According to Patrick Olsen, the company has accumulated almost 30-billion records. That is a lot of auto data!
