Jeep Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Wagoneer, and Wagoneer L, 22 to 24 model years. And um loss of electronic stability control and brake assist. Jeep Grand Wagoneer for 2026. Um, we couldn't go a weekend without a Ford, so here are some offerings. Uh rear differential pinion shaft may fracture. But we ain't going anywhere. The Ford Mustang Mach E for 2021 and 2023. Yes, they do have things that other cars, iCE engines used to have, uh, but uh they also have them in some sort of electric vehicle.

Uh windshield wiper and washing system malfunction. Ford Mustang and Mustang GTD 24 to 26. Instrument panel may fail to display correct selected gear. Another one. Yeah. Uh Nissan Rogue for 26. Parking at daytime running lights may fail. RAM 1500, 26 model year. Integrated brake system malfunction on just about every BMW known to exist from the 23 model year to the 25 model year. Uh check your dealer for that recall because it's a 5 uh 7 series, uh I5, I7, X's, Cooper S, uh, Countryman, all this it's a bust. You name it. Yeah. Uh rear view camera image may not display Honda Odyssey 2018 to 2020. Improperly tightened rear subframe bolts. Did you feel that bump? Huh. We don't have any rear wheels left.

On the Honda Passport and Pilot for 2026. Rear seat belts may not secure the child seat. Nissan Leaf 2026. And uh oh, there's this one. I think we mentioned this last week. Uh, cars from Kia, the Kia Telluride 2020 to 2024. They're asking you to park it outside because uh fire from overheated power seat motors may cause your car and the house to melt down. What uh what I said, Hyundai, what Kia Kia Telluride, okay 2020 to 2024. Well, I wouldn't know that, Mike. I'm just certainly a good guess. Yeah. Now I'm gonna count all the tellurides on the way home. Uh park outside high voltage battery may catch fire. Kia EV6 and EV9, 22 to 24. And another park outside is for the Hyundai Ionic 5, 23, and 24.

Hemmings Sold Car Price Game

Well, here's our first car. It is a 1994 Chevrolet Corvette. This would be a C4. 1994 Chevrolet Corvette. Guess what it's sold for? Now, this is a convertible, it's red, as you can see. It looks stock, it looks clean, looks like it's been well taken care of. You got to get back around. Oh, it's wait a minute, it's all got also got two tops. Now, typically this would be a Z06, but I don't think this is.

Because the Z06 It's only got 13,914 miles.

Um, I guess George is out, you know, cutting the brands. George, it takes a while to type up all these nines. Yeah, that's it. $34,999. Okay, so the sold car price was $19,845. I calculated TTL. I don't, I don't, I think I'd have to pass on that car.

Well, I mean, it's okay, but uh the engine is all right. Next up. Next up is my car. A 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. Uh now, this would be a Z28. At least it's got the paint job of it. Well, it's a Z28 tribute car. Ah, it's a tribute car. That's okay. I'd be willing to go with that as long as it had the DZ motor in it. Because the D Z motor would be worth more than the car itself.

Well, I'll shut up. Heitzman is at 35. And the Lusk, oh, there's George, $28,999. And the Lusk family 43. Well, they're pretty close. That car sold for $38,325. You know, I could source some seats. The problem would be finding a rust-free, a rust-free 69 Camaro. Tell you how to start with. So $38,325. All right, next up, another Corvette's 1966 Chevy Corvette. Now, I'm gonna tell you uh straight up that that's a big block. So it's 396.

$84,000. Next up, a 1964 Ford Mustang. Um, so this would be the first model year of the Ford Mustang if this is true. Um, but uh the price kind of worries me a little bit. Um, what is that price, Don? Well, I'm gonna tell you in a minute, but you're gonna guess the price.

Look at it's got look at the mahogany floors in it. Yeah, it's teakwood. Is that what it is?

No, but I think that the thing had some sort of influence on this or this influence thing. Right, yeah, the thing. 1949 Willis Overland Jeepster. How it stayed together all these years without rusting, melting into the ground, I don't know. Somebody's taken very good.

Definitely not at the beach, that's for sure. But it says it's at uh it's got the original 149 cubic inch inline six with 72 massive horsepower.

So we got the Houston Metro Go Texan Show and Shine Car Show and Barbecue Cook Off in New Caney. That's at uh 21675 McCleskey Road. And this is a benefit sponsored, uh benefiting Splendora and New Caney seniors. What uh what day is that? This is uh next, I'm sorry, this next Saturday. These are all for next week. Okay. Uh the vehicle check-in runs about uh from noon, 4 30-ish. They get about four and a half hours to check in. Uh they're gonna have awards, show and shine categories, all that good stuff to be on the 25th. So this is a weekend event. Oh uh Barrow Ranch Car Show and Poker Run. This is also next uh Saturday. Barrow. Barrow, right? Uh Barrow Ranch, uh it's at 12717 Tri-City Beach Road in Beach City, Texas, Michael, right around your corner. Uh it's a poker run and it's benefiting the Beach City Volunteer Fire Department. So very good. Uh golf carts, UTVs, all that stuff is part of the show. Then you've got on the 25th the car cruise in, I'm sorry, the cruise in car show and swap meet at Faux Real Estate Trade Days. A lot of big names. It's in Liberty, Texas. It's not a short drive up here. Uh it's a free event. All cruisers, swap meets, all that good stuff. It's at the TVE Fairgrounds in Liberty. Runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. So get out there. You might find that, you know, jewel or the treasure that you've been looking for out there. And then next Sunday, uh the 26th, would be caffeine and chrome at the Gateway Classics of Cars. Uh that's at Cypress Station Drive, suite 200. It's a big parking lot. Get out there and enjoy that. Brisoria County Cars and Coffee is at Lake Jackson. We haven't talked about that one a while, but it's a monthly event. Get out there, uh, gathering from 9 a.m. to 11. I get a lot of these things from people, different car shows and stuff like that. And I look at these the presentations that they want to people come out, and they're very, very pretty. There's a lot of you know time and effort in there. They want us to do that. They're gonna have to pay us. But these are just you know freebies that we're gonna give out to the community and and let you know what's going on. But check with your community. I'm sure there's something going on with either a church or a boy scout, girl scout club, something like that. So get out there.

You know, it wasn't that long ago that there weren't any car shows. And then all of a sudden, coffee in cars comes along and starts this whole trend about kind of throw out uh cruise in.

We should start when like taquitos and tequila or something. Really? We should. In your driveway.

I think the cruise in aspect is what makes the difference. It's not like you're sitting out there in the parking lot all day. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, well, yeah, and you're out.

Yeah, yeah. Multiple. And it's a and it's a whole lot easier to get the car ready for a little cruise in as opposed to a full-blown car show. Trust me on that. Been there, done that. I'm over it.

Robotaxis, Dealers, EVs, And Tariffs

Some of the stories making auto news headlines, even though Waymo Robotaxis don't have a driver, a human, might still be watching. As two California teenagers learned after the tech company helped police take them into custody. A Waymo employee monitoring the vehicle via a video feed spotted the 15-year-olds drinking alcohol and shooting out the window in what appeared to be a firearm, according to the San Mateo police. The employee that had the vehicle feigned mechanical difficulties, informing the passengers that it would have to stop for assistance, according to TV station K-Ron out there. But actually, the employee had contacted police who surrounded the vehicle with guns drawn when it pulled into the parking lot of a shopping center. Can you imagine the kids in the backseat? Oh my God. We conducted a high-risk traffic stop. A police spokesperson told Kayron. Waymo did disable the vehicle for us in a location that we were able to set up safely. And at that point, we pulled them out of the vehicle, searched the vehicle, and we found what we determined to be Orbees. Orbees are colorful polymer beads that greatly expand in size when wet. Parents, do you know where your teens are? Waymo does, the police department posted on Facebook afterwards. So why didn't the car just drive them to the police station? I don't know. The the teens were released to their parents, according to Cairon. Police sent the case to the district attorney's office to review the possible charges, including underage drinking and engaging in threatening behavior.

Yeah, I'll I'm I'm more interested in the Orbees than anything else. I know what those are. Uh yeah, well, I just explained it to you, but I don't even worry about something. Where do you put them? Dealership uh websites handle service requests more effectively than phone calls, average averaging a score of 71 out of 100 compared with 61 for phone requests, according to a new study. For the first time, 2026 Pied Piper Auto Dealers Group Survey Scheduling Effectiveness Study. How do you get that all on a piece of paper? Distinguish between the two channels, revealing a 10-point gap that reflects less room for human error online. So if you take your place to or take your car to a place that uh has a service drive and you have to make an appointment, don't call. Do it online. And first of all, you're gonna have to find somebody that's gonna answer the phone in the service department. And that's always a pain.

Well, I they have a where I call my dealership work, they have a central phone room, a phone bank, and you go, you call, you make an appointment, they ask you, you know, what you need, blah, blah, blah, drop off, wait, or and they set it up. And when you pull in, they got your name on a registration, you just go in. We never had that. Yeah. Well, we never did either, but it was always a phone call.

Auto industry executives are more optimistic about the road ahead than at any point in the automotive news auto industry confidence index history, even as they flagged persistent concerns about pricing, affordability, and tariffs. The overall industry index rose 2.9 points from the first quarter to 58.5, driven primarily by increased optimism about the remainder of the year from all four sectors measured, as well as continued strong sediment toward how those sectors look currently. Wow. That was uh after that was before us re-engaging in the war with Iran. So we'll see how that all plays out. Up and down. As half of American car buyers budget less than $45,000 for their next vehicle, consumers are using artificial intelligence to research their opinion and options before setting foot in the dealership. Affordability remains at the forefront of consumers' minds. Consumers ranked value from money near the top of their car buying criteria, according to McKinsey and Company's latest mobility consumer pulse survey. We get our news, by the way, from automotive news. The shift in McKinsey's latest survey of more than 20,000 global consumers signals that automakers and dealers should prioritize entry-level vehicles and rethink their digital strategy strategy as tech savvy consumers lean on AI. Well, uh, there's good news for uh those people that are really into electric vehicles. Range anxiety is rapidly fading as a barrier to U.S. electric vehicle adoption as automakers boost driving distance with bigger batteries, according to a new consumer survey by consulting firm McKenzie. While high EV prices and charging worries remain obstacles to switching from gas to the uh here in the U.S., more U.S. consumers say a battery electric vehicle is on their shopping list. In 2026, McKinsey survey 18% of U.S. consumers cited EV range as an obstacle to switching from a gasoline vehicle compared to 44% three years earlier. Range anxiety fell to the number seven reason for EV reluctance from number two in 2023. Um also uh here's uh top U.S. and Mexican officials will meet next week to discuss the future of North American trade. This is the big thing that's coming up uh this summer, uh likely focusing on automotive rules of origin and tariff rates that have a major impact on the future of manufacturing in the region. The meeting scheduled for the week of July 20th in Mexico City, about three weeks after the Trump administration said it would not renew the United States-Mexico-Canada agreement, initiating annual reviews of the agreement that could last through 2036. The trilateral deal, which underpins regional automotive trade, is scheduled to expire that year unless the three countries agree to extend it in the meantime.
