Oh , more than that . When did you start over there at ? Uh , maybe it was 14 . It's 14 because I got a phone call from steve kingsley guy that owned a custom car stereo and says I got a guy over here , yeah I got a guy . I got a guy , got a guy and we had him on the show when we were at the radio station yeah and we were talking about washing cars and detailing cars and that sort of thing , and that's when we started dating and we haven't stopped been going steady ever since yeah we have been , and it's been a real pleasure and a real joy .

Auto shield things are good we're doing a got a couple different things going on this last couple weeks . We're doing a couple of color changes on cars , which is not always our favorite thing to do , but have some special clients that want to get . What a pain .

yes , we're taking doors off and you know , you just pray to God , you don't get a code on the car when you put it all back together and turn the ignition on . You've been down that road a time or two .

I take it . It happens , you know , even on some of these Porsches you take a headlight out , you turn the ignition on and it's going back to the dealership to get codes cleared .

So let's do a little review of what we have in here . I see we got a Cybertruck back there that you've wrapped . We got a .

No , they're all the stainless steel , brushed stainless steel . Look to them . The color on that car is a is going to be , it's going to be a color shifting paint protection film and it will shift from dark blue to like a dark red , depending on which way you look at it , but the thing that's different about this thing is it's actually paint protection film . It's not . It's not just a wrap , not just a wrap , so it's thicker . You got a 10-year warranty on it . It's's a much better product than any kind of color change .

Yeah , it's a wet apply . It's a wet apply where wrap is typically dry apply .

Now , is that specific to the Cybertruck or just that product on any ?

vehicle , the product . So yeah , paint protection film is always wet apply Color change wraps are dry with , with the adhesive being activated by heat . So yeah , the the real . You know the truck is pretty easy to to work on well , it's square , yeah , flat panel the only problem with it is wrapping those edges , because the edge on it is so , so tiny and um can you imagine the stamping plant ?

I think it was in , uh , mississippi or tennessee , somewhere up there , and it was truly amazing to see how sheet metal of any kind is stamped and that truly those tight edges like that they're sharp too .

Yeah , you've seen the video where the guy's cutting carrots and cucumbers with the trunk .

So he's hitting the trunk , the front close button , and it doesn't have any kind of sensor on it to detect when something's in the way . So it's literally he's chopping carrots with it , and then some other guy decided well'm gonna put my finger .

It's right-hand drive and one of my regular clients bought that and I think he imported it and I think he's probably going to sell it , david , and it is . I know that car is very , very valuable about 19 000 miles on it from a 1999 car and it's in incredible condition and , um , uh , we did a , we actually made a paint protection film kit for the front of it and um , oh , just getting it cleaned up for him and I think he's going to come by today and and pick it up . Uh , not my thing , but I do respect the , I do respect the car and the kind of condition that it's in .

Well , that , that apparently I've never been in one or driven one , but from everything that I've read and seen , that is one bad to the bone car on the road . Well , I don't know for what it is , I won't get in it do you fit in it ?

Yeah , yes sir , that's a 2018 2019 gt2 rs and , uh , we did a full paint protection film on that car and um , so it's brand new . No , it's not . Well , it's six years old . Oh , it is , and that car has got . You want to talk about power ? That car's about 700 something horsepower seriously straight up from the factory .

Wow and uh . The red one is what's is the really special car that's in here with the whale tail ? Yes , that is a . That is a , I believe , a 2004 gt2 , 94 gt2 and , and Porsche made 57 of those , 13 of which were right-hand drive , and the reason why they made that car was so they could make enough to race it . Le Mans .

Oh , we invited the Houston chapter of the Lone Star region of the Porsche Club of America to come over . This is an appreciation event for these guys . They send us a lot of business anytime somebody asks a question on the their forums about you know where to go for something and they just get flooded with with our shop and uh .

He has a new Raptor R and he wanted one that faced forward , back and then toward the cab inside the cab , yeah , yeah , so you can see himself . Well , so I think the job that he does . He moves boats around in the port and so somebody has to move his truck around , uh , to meet him . So he wanted to make sure that whoever was driving it , uh , wasn't messing around yeah , at least if they were , he'd know who did it got you um , yeah , those are .

Yes , they're now making them with LTE cards , so you can get a SIM card , put it in there and , as long as your battery is at a certain level while the car is parked anywhere , you can dial in on your phone and see what's going on around your car . Oh wow .

But I will say this have you ever heard one come blasting through ? Oh my God , it's worse than your radio station transmission . It's all distorted and all that sort of thing , all right . That's what we're going to talk about Okay , all right , very good , all right . The the Mike Mars review of the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid . Now , we're not talking about a four-door sedan from the 1970s here .

No , no , no . In fact , what they've done is they've repurposed the name Maverick into a small compact truck . It's basically a unibody truck , much like some of the others . When they get down that small , they're just not putting the frame on . This vehicle was actually introduced in 2022 .

The hybrid this is the lariat trim level of the hybrid um , and it is front wheel drive is not a four by four and um . It only comes in a four-door crew cab with a 4.5 foot bed bed on it . That's the only way you're going to buy this vehicle and it's got . The great thing about it is because of the way the windows are . You set up kind of high . You've got great visibility in it . You're going to find LED lighting all the way around with some automatic high beams up front . You've got the acoustic windshield . It really helps with the road noise .

Cut down on a lot of that . Got heated power side mirrors . Got a rear power sliding glass , got cargo box tie downs inside the bed , got a tow package and includes the receiver 7-pin plug . So it's a standard receiver with a 7-pin plug on it , so you can basically put anything in . We'll get to the tow ratings in a few minutes , but we were rolling on the optional 18-inch aluminum wheels . Now inside we had the synthetic leather upholstery . Front seats are heated , the rear is a fold-up with storage underneath it . Wait a minute , did you say synthetic leather ? Yes , sir , synthetic leather , upholstery .

The rear seat folds up in one piece . So if you've got a car seat or groceries or something in there and you want to get underneath , you're going to have to take everything out , that's . I thought that was kind of weird that they didn't split that base . On that seat you're going to find an eight inch touchscreen up front . That's where you're going to get your nav , your rear view camera , all your convenience controls . Uh does have a wireless charger . It's got got USB ports up front and in the back You're going to have your Ford Sync 3 , apple CarPlay , android Auto , so you've got all this technology in there and to go along with a B&O audio system . Now , this is eight speakers . So this is a pretty simple design . Interior , the door panels and all are pretty simple .

Up underneath the hood we had the 2.5 liter inline four . That's part of the hybrid connection . Now , interesting thing , they did this is the standard engine in the Maverick this year . Last year the 2.0 liter turbo was the standard engine with the hybrid optional , but they swapped it . Now the hybrid is the standard and the 2.0 liter turbo is standard . I mean it's the option . I don't understand why they did the swap and the 2.0 liter turbo is standard . I mean it's the option , I don't . I don't understand why they did the swap , but anyway they did . It's 191 horsepower equivalent 155 pound feet of torque , backed with a cvt , and we had the front wheel drive . Tow rating is 1500 pounds on this vehicle , which doesn't seem like a whole lot . But you take a small trailer that's eight or nine hundred pounds , put a 500 pound golf cart it and you can tow it . Epa says you should get 43 in the city and 33 out on the highway and I will tell you I averaged 31 across the week that I had it and that included a little bit of towing .

That's what I'm saying . It'll tow a little bit Most people are going to do . Now I will say that it's a very truck-like ride . The steering on it's very responsive . The base model now Wayford's doing their Monrones here . It didn't get a price on that exact vehicle , but the base model for the Maverick XL is $25,410 . The Lariat base that we were driving is $36,450 , and since the hybrid's standard on that now that includes the hybrid the closest things I could find to it would be something like the Hyundai Sonata I mean Santa Cruz that starts at $26,900, . Another unibody vehicle , the Honda Ridgeline's a little bit bigger at $39,000 . But if you're looking for a compact truck , this is definitely one to look at . It worked quite well .
