A 1971 Corvette that “didn’t have enough horsepower” turns into a blown street machine with a 6-71 supercharger and a backstory you can’t make up. We’re live at Tailpipes and Tacos at the Lupe' Tortilla in Beaumont, Texas, where the parking lot is packed with the kind of builds that pull you into conversation even if you planned to “just look around.”

Racer and longtime car collector Randy Blackwell joins us to talk about his 200 mph street car, why 1971 was a turning point for factory power, and how he decided to put the muscle back in. Then he drops the line that steals the show: the supercharger was funded by a Rolex sale. From there we get into the deep stuff car people love, funny car roots, decades of drag racing experience, Super Gas 9.90 stories, and what it takes to keep a fast car reliable enough to cruise to a local car show.

We also take a detour through performance history with Lingenfelter talk, including a rare Corvette detail that will make any engine nerd lean closer, and we bring it back to the practical side with weekly vehicle recalls you should check.

To wrap the hour with some fun, we run through recent sold-car prices, including classics, a restored Toyota Land Cruiser, and a C10 sale that will change what you think “old truck money” looks like.

If you like car culture, drag racing stories, Corvette upgrades, and Texas cruise-ins, subscribe to In Wheel Time, share this with a friend, and leave a quick review so more enthusiasts can find the show.

00:00:21.039 --> 00:00:22.559
Jeff will have the motor minute.

00:00:22.960 --> 00:00:23.600
And more.

00:00:23.920 --> 00:00:25.199
All coming up in this hour.

00:00:25.280 --> 00:00:26.399
So we invite you to stay with us.

00:00:26.480 --> 00:00:28.800
Howdy, along with Mike Out of This World Mars.

00:00:28.960 --> 00:00:30.399
We always need more Jeff Zeke.

00:00:30.640 --> 00:00:32.719
Chief Engineer David Ainsley is joining us today.

00:00:32.799 --> 00:00:34.079
My name is Don Armstrong.

00:00:34.159 --> 00:00:38.240
Thank you so much for joining us today on our three-hour extended broadcast.

00:00:38.320 --> 00:00:40.399
I know that some of you are tuning in going, wait a minute.

00:00:40.560 --> 00:00:40.960
Wait a minute.

00:00:41.119 --> 00:00:42.320
There's only an hour left of the show.

00:00:42.399 --> 00:00:43.920
Well, we've been on the air since eight o'clock.

00:00:44.079 --> 00:00:45.200
And these guys aren't in jail yet?

00:00:45.280 --> 00:00:45.600
What?

00:00:45.759 --> 00:00:46.000
Yeah.

00:00:46.240 --> 00:00:48.079
No, we just got let out of jail.

00:00:48.320 --> 00:00:48.960
Thank you so much.

00:00:49.119 --> 00:00:51.920
Look, it's tailpipes and tacos water.

00:00:52.240 --> 00:00:53.759
Did you have anything to do with this?

00:00:54.240 --> 00:00:55.679
You you ordered it, didn't you?

00:00:55.920 --> 00:00:56.560
I ordered everything.

00:00:56.880 --> 00:00:57.600
You did everything.

00:00:57.759 --> 00:00:58.240
I know that.

00:00:58.399 --> 00:00:59.600
You always do everything.

00:00:59.759 --> 00:01:01.359
And thank you for being you.

00:01:01.600 --> 00:01:03.840
I've known her for years, and she's a great person.

00:01:04.079 --> 00:01:04.719
Love her.

00:01:05.200 --> 00:01:07.840
You want it done, she can always get it done.

00:01:08.000 --> 00:01:08.400
There you go.

00:01:08.560 --> 00:01:08.879
All right.

00:01:08.959 --> 00:01:09.359
Uh, Mr.

00:01:09.439 --> 00:01:12.480
Mars, what did you find out about our display over here?

00:01:12.719 --> 00:01:16.319
That is the uh caddy, the Cadiente Cadillac.

00:01:17.439 --> 00:01:18.319
Try to please me.

00:01:18.560 --> 00:01:19.840
That's the Cadiente?

00:01:20.000 --> 00:01:20.159
Yes.

00:01:20.560 --> 00:01:24.959
Kind of a cutout, uh kind of from this side, it's a little hard to tell other than the front end.

00:01:25.200 --> 00:01:30.640
It's the angle the image was taken and stuff, but it's uh it's actually the one that's in the poster for the car show.

00:01:30.959 --> 00:01:33.120
And the car is actually sitting there behind it.

00:01:36.319 --> 00:01:38.799
So we found you you probably saw him when he came in.

00:01:38.879 --> 00:01:46.560
He came in and kind of eased around through the back, but this 71 Corvette sitting back here behind the dragster belongs to Randy Blackwell.

00:01:46.879 --> 00:01:47.599
The big blower on it.

00:01:47.680 --> 00:01:50.319
With the big blower on it, yes, a Mako shark almost.

00:01:50.799 --> 00:01:51.680
Good morning.

00:01:52.000 --> 00:01:52.480
Good morning.

00:01:52.879 --> 00:01:53.599
Thanks for joining us.

00:01:53.920 --> 00:01:55.760
Are you are you are you a Beaumont?

00:01:56.319 --> 00:01:58.239
I'm from Beaumont all my life.

00:01:58.400 --> 00:02:03.040
And then I moved to Houston, and I just moved back to Lumberton three years ago.

00:02:03.280 --> 00:02:03.439
Yeah.

00:02:03.760 --> 00:02:04.319
Why?

00:02:04.560 --> 00:02:10.000
Uh I'm from Beaumont and I have a lot of friends here and wanted to reconnect with all my hot rod friends.

00:02:10.319 --> 00:02:11.360
Where's Lumberton?

00:02:11.599 --> 00:02:15.680
It's about 12 miles from Beaumont towards uh Sealsby.

00:02:15.919 --> 00:02:16.960
Due north is what he's saying.

00:02:17.199 --> 00:02:17.680
Due north.

00:02:17.759 --> 00:02:17.919
Yeah.

00:02:18.080 --> 00:02:19.199
You're up in the woods.

00:02:19.520 --> 00:02:20.159
In the woods.

00:02:20.319 --> 00:02:20.479
Yeah.

00:02:20.639 --> 00:02:20.800
Nice.

00:02:21.759 --> 00:02:23.360
So you go from the swamp to the woods.

00:02:23.599 --> 00:02:23.840
That's it.

00:02:24.080 --> 00:02:24.639
That's right.

00:02:24.719 --> 00:02:25.120
Yes.

00:02:26.400 --> 00:02:27.840
71 Corvette.

00:02:28.319 --> 00:02:33.840
Well, that would have been the year that uh they started lowering horsepower and changing things around.

00:02:34.080 --> 00:02:35.039
That is true.

00:02:35.199 --> 00:02:45.280
They did that in 71 and they downsized the horsepower, and so I bought a 71 a few years later, and I said it doesn't have enough horsepower.

00:02:45.439 --> 00:02:50.159
So I decided to up the horsepower and put a 671 supercharger on it.

00:02:50.400 --> 00:02:50.800
A blower.

00:02:51.120 --> 00:02:52.240
That's what you see now, a blower.

00:02:52.639 --> 00:02:52.960
That'll do it.

00:02:53.039 --> 00:02:53.759
And I've got a funny story.

00:02:55.599 --> 00:02:55.919
Yes.

00:02:56.080 --> 00:02:57.919
And I've got a funny story about that.

00:02:58.159 --> 00:02:58.960
We'd like to hear it.

00:02:59.199 --> 00:03:05.360
I uh worked hard all my life and I worked for Beaumont Motor Company here while I was going to college.

00:03:05.599 --> 00:03:09.759
Saved all my money, and I thought, well, I would like to have a Rolex watch.

00:03:09.919 --> 00:03:12.479
So I saved my money and bought a Rolex watch.

00:03:12.719 --> 00:03:18.479
Well, my ex-father-in-law said a few years later, he said, Randy, he said, I want to buy that watch from you.

00:03:18.560 --> 00:03:19.840
I said, I don't want to sell it.

00:03:20.080 --> 00:03:22.240
He said, You've used it for a couple of years.

00:03:22.400 --> 00:03:23.840
Let me let me buy it from you.

00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:24.719
I said, okay.

00:03:24.800 --> 00:03:26.800
I said, What will you pay for it?

00:03:26.960 --> 00:03:29.599
He said, I'll give you$5,000 for it.

00:03:29.759 --> 00:03:30.560
I said, okay.

00:03:30.639 --> 00:03:40.800
I said, so I gave him the watch and he gave me$5,000, and that's my supercharger Rolex watch on my Does it say Rolex on the side of the supercharger using it?

00:03:41.039 --> 00:03:43.759
I wish I would have or his your ex-father-in-law's name on there.

00:03:44.080 --> 00:03:45.759
I wish I would have written on there, yes.

00:03:45.919 --> 00:03:46.080
Yeah.

00:03:46.319 --> 00:03:47.840
So that's one of my cars.

00:03:47.919 --> 00:03:52.000
Uh I've been collecting cars and I've been racing for 50 years.

00:03:52.240 --> 00:04:01.199
Many years ago, Dickie Harrell, a funny car racer, was a friend of mine, and he had a flip-top uh uh Shivy 2.

00:04:01.360 --> 00:04:02.400
So I built one.

00:04:02.479 --> 00:04:16.000
I bought a brand new 65 Shivy 2 off of Bowman Motor Company, took it straight to the shop, tore it down, took all the parts, and sold them back to Bowman Motor Company for 50 cents on the dollar.

00:04:16.160 --> 00:04:18.879
So now I built a funny car like Dickie Harrell's.

00:04:19.360 --> 00:04:21.920
I was gonna say when you say a flip top, you're talking about a funny car.

00:04:22.160 --> 00:04:22.879
Funny car, yeah.

00:04:22.959 --> 00:04:23.120
Yes.

00:04:23.279 --> 00:04:26.480
Because original funny cars, they were metal bodies, if I'm not mistaken.

00:04:26.720 --> 00:04:27.120
That's correct.

00:04:27.439 --> 00:04:35.120
They started out as an AFX, yes, and then they graduated up to the complete fiberglass flip top, yes.

00:04:35.360 --> 00:04:35.600
Yeah.

00:04:35.839 --> 00:04:41.120
But uh I thought that I could be competitive with all of these professional racers.

00:04:41.279 --> 00:04:44.319
I had fun, but I didn't ever do what I wanted to do.

00:04:44.720 --> 00:04:45.920
It takes lots of money to do that.

00:04:47.199 --> 00:04:48.800
We all did that, yeah.

00:04:49.120 --> 00:04:50.079
Yeah, I understand.

00:04:50.319 --> 00:04:53.759
So do you drive the uh blown Corvette very often?

00:04:54.000 --> 00:04:58.480
That's my streetcar, and that's I call that my 200 mile an hour streetcar.

00:04:58.720 --> 00:05:03.120
I've got a 62 Corvette that I've been racing for 10 or 12 years.

00:05:03.279 --> 00:05:05.120
And uh cage on it and all that.

00:05:05.360 --> 00:05:18.000
It's got a full cage on it, runs super super gas, and uh so I made it where I can drive it to car shows like this, but I didn't want to drive it today because it's so hard to get in and out of.

00:05:18.160 --> 00:05:19.759
So I brought the Corvette.

00:05:20.000 --> 00:05:21.360
It's easier to get in and out of.

00:05:21.680 --> 00:05:22.879
Much easier, yes.

00:05:24.800 --> 00:05:27.199
And I've I've been doing this for a long time.

00:05:27.439 --> 00:05:40.560
I I raced around with Stan Holt of Loopy Tortillas, and we raced all over the country at NHRE events, and I ran a Fierro Pontiac in Supergas, and I was lucky enough to get a few.

00:05:40.800 --> 00:05:42.240
Literally didn't have the stock engine in it.

00:05:42.560 --> 00:05:43.360
No, he didn't.

00:05:43.600 --> 00:05:48.959
I was lucky enough to win a couple national events with it, and I still race it today.

00:05:49.199 --> 00:06:03.279
I've got a I've got a thousand horsepower, uh big block in it, that I run what they call the 580 index, and we run it Dallas and Houston and and Evidale, and we'll be racing the next race in Evadel.

00:06:03.439 --> 00:06:09.120
We're building the motor back, we blew the motor up about six months ago, so we're we're going back with it.

00:06:09.279 --> 00:06:12.240
So I'm eager to start racing again.

00:06:12.560 --> 00:06:15.839
You you you familiar with Lingenfelter, you remember that name?

00:06:16.399 --> 00:06:19.759
He is so far uh out of my league.

00:06:20.000 --> 00:06:21.759
Oh, yes, because we can't afford him.

00:06:21.920 --> 00:06:22.399
Well, of course not.

00:06:22.720 --> 00:06:25.360
But he is the he is the king of the LS motors.

00:06:25.759 --> 00:06:26.240
Yes, yes.

00:06:26.319 --> 00:06:29.759
Well, John John Lingenfelter was the racer way back in the day.

00:06:29.839 --> 00:06:37.439
Unfortunately, he passed away, but his uh his cu cousin John took over the company and he's progressed the company throughout the decades.

00:06:37.680 --> 00:06:46.639
And I had the uh lovely opportunity of meeting the guy and talking to him about it, and uh also seeing his Chevrolet collection.

00:06:46.879 --> 00:06:50.879
And uh in in that collection, there must have been a hundred cars.

00:06:51.279 --> 00:06:57.680
The collection is there at Lingenfelter, and it's in the back in a warehouse that's unlabeled, you wouldn't even know that it's there.

00:06:58.000 --> 00:06:59.920
And with these uh did you ever go there?

00:07:00.720 --> 00:07:01.360
No, I didn't.

00:07:02.000 --> 00:07:06.000
So it's I mean, a lot of cars, and they're all specialty cars.

00:07:06.240 --> 00:07:11.680
Matter of fact, it's it's as opposed to the the General Motors Heritage Collection.

00:07:11.839 --> 00:07:21.600
This is the Lingenfelcher collection, but they're all Chevrolets, and they have a lot of events out there at the Lingenfelter uh facility in this particular warehouse where all these cool cars are.

00:07:21.839 --> 00:07:29.279
And he had the Fiero out there, and uh you can close the hood on it.

00:07:29.600 --> 00:07:31.519
And I said, So what's so special about it?

00:07:31.680 --> 00:07:36.319
He says, Well, you know, we had to put one of our engines in it.

00:07:36.639 --> 00:07:38.560
And he said, he says, You want to hear it?

00:07:38.720 --> 00:07:43.120
I said, Yeah, start it up, sounded like a nice, calm V8.

00:07:44.160 --> 00:07:48.319
Well, he told me, he says, the only problem is that the car doesn't weigh anything.

00:07:48.720 --> 00:07:56.079
And he said, So I built the thing to be able to take my daughter to grade school, you know, back and forth to grade school.

00:07:56.160 --> 00:07:56.319
Yep.

00:07:56.560 --> 00:07:58.160
And so he took her to grade school.

00:07:58.240 --> 00:08:06.560
The problem was is that he you couldn't take it to grade school because it kept jumping forward and they had to bump up the brakes on the car.

00:08:06.800 --> 00:08:18.639
It wouldn't I you get it to where it would idle, and the car would leap forward and and the principal came up to him and said, Look, you've got to stop peeling out from here.

00:08:19.199 --> 00:08:21.839
Uh because uh yeah, people are saying things.

00:08:22.000 --> 00:08:24.879
So he had to uh just put the car in his collection.

00:08:24.959 --> 00:08:26.480
But it is absolutely magnificent.

00:08:26.639 --> 00:08:28.560
Everything that they do up there is spotless.

00:08:28.800 --> 00:08:33.679
It's also where I saw the 53-54 Corvette.

00:08:34.000 --> 00:08:42.399
And of course, back then it had the blue flame six in it, and they were deciding whether or not to stay with the blue flame six or go to the V8.

00:08:42.639 --> 00:08:44.320
They've decided that they're gonna go to the V8.

00:08:44.720 --> 00:08:49.919
And the guys that built the the Blue Flame Six said, Oh no, no, no, no, no, please don't do that.

00:08:50.240 --> 00:08:53.519
We're gonna supercharge the Blue Flame Six.

00:08:53.840 --> 00:09:06.960
He has the experimental car that they supercharged the Blue Flame Six in his collection, and as opposed to the up on the front of the Corvette, you know, he used to say Corvette up there in script and those early Corvettes, the C1s.

00:09:07.120 --> 00:09:07.360
Yeah.

00:09:07.759 --> 00:09:12.879
Pulled that off of there and it just says in script, same font, supercharged.

00:09:13.440 --> 00:09:17.519
And you'd never know until you open the hood, and there's the supercharger on that blue flame six.

00:09:17.840 --> 00:09:18.960
I just thought I'd pass that along.

00:09:19.120 --> 00:09:20.159
I thought that you would appreciate that.

00:09:20.559 --> 00:09:21.120
That's interesting.

00:09:21.200 --> 00:09:35.519
And talking about the Fiero, I was at a national event up in somewhere several years ago, and uh we run we run we run supergas, which is a 990 class.

00:09:35.919 --> 00:09:40.559
And there was 990, he's talking about 9.9 seconds in the quarter mile.

00:09:40.879 --> 00:09:41.279
That's correct.

00:09:41.600 --> 00:09:46.080
My Fierro would won 990 at 160 miles an hour.

00:09:46.480 --> 00:10:00.960
And we got down to the third or fourth round and look over another lane, and there's a Fierro Pontiac convertible that if we had both won the next round, we would run each other in the finals.

00:10:01.200 --> 00:10:02.960
And neither one of us did it that way.

00:10:03.120 --> 00:10:03.759
Yeah, it didn't.

00:10:03.840 --> 00:10:05.039
But you break out.

00:10:05.279 --> 00:10:08.240
Uh actually, I don't know, I don't remember what I did.

00:10:08.480 --> 00:10:09.039
But I didn't know.

00:10:09.200 --> 00:10:11.519
We didn't we have no there's always next time.

00:10:11.679 --> 00:10:12.399
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:10:12.799 --> 00:10:23.200
But they had a they had a a few-year-old club, and the uh president of the club, a few year old club, came to me and said, I'd like to do an article on your car.

00:10:23.440 --> 00:10:33.360
So after I lost, we sat down and did a bunch of commentation, and uh, and he was just real, real uh uh appreciative that I took the time to do.

00:10:33.519 --> 00:10:34.559
Did you do you have the article?

00:10:35.120 --> 00:10:36.080
I don't have the article.

00:10:36.240 --> 00:10:38.639
I thought that I Do you know what the publication was?

00:10:38.879 --> 00:10:39.519
No, I don't.

00:10:39.600 --> 00:10:41.279
It's been it's been many years.

00:10:41.840 --> 00:10:42.240
I understand.

00:10:42.320 --> 00:10:42.799
Yeah, yeah.

00:10:43.039 --> 00:10:50.799
But it's the it's a a fun car, and this car was built by Bruno Mansel's dad and Bruno Mansell Jr.

00:10:51.279 --> 00:10:54.879
That they build world renowned cars.

00:10:55.039 --> 00:11:03.440
They built this few year old Pontiac that I have, and we won we won the best engineered at Indianapolis with this car.

00:11:03.759 --> 00:11:04.960
Do you still see Bruno?

00:11:05.200 --> 00:11:06.639
I see him at the few races.

00:11:06.720 --> 00:11:06.879
Yeah.

00:11:17.440 --> 00:11:19.039
And he sees my car.

00:11:19.200 --> 00:11:19.919
It's his car.

00:11:20.080 --> 00:11:25.120
He said, Hey, hey, hey! And he followed me all the way to my pit and we talked for 30 minutes.

00:11:25.200 --> 00:11:27.039
He was so glad to see it.

00:11:27.200 --> 00:11:30.480
I mean, it just made me feel good that he still cared about it.

00:11:30.720 --> 00:11:31.600
That's good that you connected.

00:11:31.759 --> 00:11:32.399
Yes, we did.

00:11:32.639 --> 00:11:33.200
Yeah, absolutely.

00:11:33.360 --> 00:11:37.919
You know, it's one thing about uh drag racing in the community that you connect with people.

00:11:38.399 --> 00:11:43.440
I may run into you five years from now and you're gonna go, I on your talk show.

00:11:43.759 --> 00:11:45.360
Yeah, it's one of those kind of things.

00:11:45.440 --> 00:11:49.039
That and and uh and that's the way it is when you come to a cruise end.

00:11:49.279 --> 00:11:57.519
You know, you meet him, he knows that guy that knows you, and it's this whole circle of friends that you didn't know that you had.

00:11:57.679 --> 00:11:59.840
And uh, I mean that's just the way that it works.

00:12:00.080 --> 00:12:01.200
These are great shows.

00:12:01.279 --> 00:12:02.799
They're having a show today.

00:12:02.960 --> 00:12:06.080
The reason there's not more cars here, but there's a good thing.

00:12:06.240 --> 00:12:07.840
You can't fit any more cars in here.

00:12:08.000 --> 00:12:13.360
There in 30 minutes, there'll be 50 more cars coming from the silo to get into this show.

00:12:13.600 --> 00:12:15.279
Yeah, they have coffees and cars or something.

00:12:15.759 --> 00:12:17.840
That's it, coffee and cars at the silo.

00:12:18.159 --> 00:12:19.679
And I drove by there a while ago.

00:12:19.919 --> 00:12:25.840
It was 150 cars, so I know because some of my friends said, I'll see you at Lupi Tortillas.

00:12:26.000 --> 00:12:27.759
So how many do you think are here today?

00:12:28.639 --> 00:12:30.639
I haven't really walked around, tell you the truth.

00:12:30.799 --> 00:12:34.080
I would say there's probably 80 to 90 cars here.

00:12:34.240 --> 00:12:46.080
Yeah, yeah, it's a it's a nice collection, and you know it's it's interesting because it runs the gamut from new to old, and everything in between, and everybody's got a tweak that they've done to their car.

00:12:46.320 --> 00:12:52.000
And some of them are uh tweaks like the Cadienti here, it's been tweaked three or four times.

00:12:52.240 --> 00:12:52.960
Yes, yeah.

00:12:53.519 --> 00:12:54.639
Mini dollar tweaks.

00:12:54.879 --> 00:12:56.000
Yes, yeah, yeah, absolutely.

00:12:56.480 --> 00:13:03.120
I remember when he had that car built and it just started from nothing, and it's it's a top grade car right now.

00:13:03.360 --> 00:13:04.879
It is beautiful, very pretty.

00:13:05.039 --> 00:13:05.600
Yeah, yeah.

00:13:06.000 --> 00:13:08.960
So um did so you brought the 71 here?

00:13:09.200 --> 00:13:13.600
Yes, I brought the 71 uh because it's easy to get in and out.

00:13:13.759 --> 00:13:20.879
And uh the 62 is still a race car, a nostalgia race car, but I blew the LS motor up.

00:13:21.039 --> 00:13:30.399
It had 840 horsepower, blew it up, so I put a 327 in it, and I drive it to car shows like this as a nostalgia race car.

00:13:30.559 --> 00:13:34.399
And uh, I should have done it because there's a lot of hot rods.

00:13:34.720 --> 00:13:39.519
Well, next time don't forget you could always come to the tailpipes and tacos over in Katy.

00:13:39.759 --> 00:13:45.360
We got a uh it's gonna be a a you would call it an Easter Saturday show.

00:13:45.519 --> 00:13:45.919
Oh, really?

00:13:46.080 --> 00:13:46.399
Yeah, yeah.

00:13:47.120 --> 00:13:50.799
Yeah, and it's gonna be just like this at 8 to 11 on a Saturday morning.

00:13:50.879 --> 00:13:54.720
Come on over, spend the night on a Friday night, get up and show the car.

00:13:54.960 --> 00:14:00.639
Well, I lived there uh in Highlands for 20 something years, and we just moved back.

00:14:00.960 --> 00:14:02.159
Do you know Dale Hulquist?

00:14:02.320 --> 00:14:05.039
He's one of Dale and I worked together for four years.

00:14:05.200 --> 00:14:05.759
I'm sorry.

00:14:05.919 --> 00:14:06.320
Yes.

00:14:07.519 --> 00:14:08.639
Oh, you know him well too?

00:14:08.799 --> 00:14:09.120
Oh, yes.

00:14:09.360 --> 00:14:10.639
He's shaking his head too.

00:14:10.799 --> 00:14:12.240
Yeah, yeah, we all do.

00:14:12.399 --> 00:14:14.320
We all have got stories to tell with this bunch.

00:14:14.720 --> 00:14:16.320
Yes, to answer your question very well.

00:14:16.720 --> 00:14:17.679
Well, Charlie Brothers.

00:14:17.919 --> 00:14:20.320
We sure uh Randy, we sure do appreciate you stopping by.

00:14:20.639 --> 00:14:21.120
Thank you so much.

00:14:21.440 --> 00:14:21.919
I enjoyed it.

00:14:22.799 --> 00:14:23.279
Very much so.

00:14:23.519 --> 00:14:23.679
Thank you.

00:14:23.840 --> 00:14:24.159
Appreciate it.

00:14:24.399 --> 00:14:24.879
It was a pleasure.

00:14:25.039 --> 00:14:25.200
All right.

It's good to talk to you, sir.

00:16:44.399 --> 00:16:44.879
Thank you very much.

00:16:44.960 --> 00:16:46.639
I got a couple of announcements to make here.

00:16:46.799 --> 00:16:56.720
First of all, uh, we're going to be doing our uh best hot rod, best classic, best modern classic with the chili pepper trophies coming up at the bottom of the hour.

00:16:56.799 --> 00:16:57.679
That's coming up.

00:16:57.919 --> 00:17:00.879
Also, uh, I want you to check your credit cards.

00:17:01.120 --> 00:17:07.680
If you're a female and uh you found out that uh oh, I'm missing my credit card.

00:17:08.000 --> 00:17:09.599
Check your check your credit cards.

00:17:09.680 --> 00:17:14.079
If you've pulled out your credit card today to buy anything, um we've got your credit card.

00:17:14.319 --> 00:17:14.960
Yeah, it isn't.

00:17:15.039 --> 00:17:18.559
We found it in the in uh is that you're did you lose a credit card?

00:17:18.960 --> 00:17:20.000
No, you don't know.

00:17:20.240 --> 00:17:20.559
Okay.

00:17:20.960 --> 00:17:23.279
Wow, I don't uh you know, am I breathing?

00:17:23.359 --> 00:17:24.960
I don't even know I'm breathing or not.

00:17:26.319 --> 00:17:29.440
And then we got the the oh the blood drive.

00:17:29.519 --> 00:17:37.200
Yes, so there's a blood drive going on here for those of you listening and watching and and being here, just being one with me right now, connecting with me.

00:17:37.359 --> 00:17:42.400
They're trying to get five more blood donors to give blood here before the end of the show.

00:17:42.559 --> 00:17:45.759
So if you haven't given blood lately, step right over there.

00:17:45.920 --> 00:17:50.880
They'd love to uh take a swab and then stick a needle in your arm.

00:17:51.119 --> 00:17:52.240
We want your blood.

00:17:52.480 --> 00:17:54.240
And afterwards you get a good spanking.

00:17:54.319 --> 00:17:56.480
So go go on over there for that.

00:17:56.720 --> 00:17:57.519
That's next week's show.

00:17:57.839 --> 00:17:59.119
You don't have to pay extra either.

00:17:59.279 --> 00:18:00.880
No, Jeff is standing by.

00:18:01.200 --> 00:18:05.359
Hey, he's he's been using a lot of cream on the palm of his hand.

00:18:05.839 --> 00:18:06.319
Easy.

00:18:06.960 --> 00:18:08.960
All right, time now for Jeff's Motor Minute.

00:18:09.200 --> 00:18:09.920
We already did that.

00:18:10.160 --> 00:18:10.640
We did?

00:18:10.880 --> 00:18:11.359
We did.

00:18:11.599 --> 00:18:12.640
Well, never mind that.

00:18:12.880 --> 00:18:14.160
Okay, I could redo it.

00:18:14.319 --> 00:18:15.200
No, I don't want you to do it.

00:18:15.519 --> 00:18:17.039
I'll do it in another language.

00:18:17.359 --> 00:18:19.119
No, I don't want you to do any of that.

00:18:19.359 --> 00:18:20.400
Am I missing something?

00:18:20.640 --> 00:18:22.160
I've done both review reviews.

00:18:22.400 --> 00:18:24.880
We've got uh I know what I need to do third hour.

00:18:25.119 --> 00:18:27.920
Okay, so um here's here's what we're going to do.

00:18:28.079 --> 00:18:29.039
Did everybody hear me?

00:18:29.200 --> 00:18:32.400
Check your credit cards, females, check your credit cards.

00:18:32.640 --> 00:18:39.119
We we don't want to uh we don't want to take this credit card away without you knowing it.

00:18:39.519 --> 00:18:42.799
Yeah, without handing it to you if you're the owner of this credit card.

00:18:43.200 --> 00:18:46.480
Otherwise, otherwise we're gonna go uh inside and have some margarita.

00:18:46.799 --> 00:18:48.319
Well it was toward the we're not gonna do that.

00:18:48.400 --> 00:18:49.599
It was toward the back of the building.

00:18:50.000 --> 00:18:51.680
I am it was toward the back of the building.

00:18:51.759 --> 00:18:56.799
So if you were in the back of the building and you had your wallet or something out, we have your card.

00:18:57.279 --> 00:19:00.240
Here is something very important called recalls.

00:19:00.400 --> 00:19:01.519
We do this every week.

00:19:01.759 --> 00:19:18.240
I think every General Motors vehicle, known to man, for the 20, some 25, but mostly 26 uh vehicles that General Motors has produced, they're all being recalled because of drum roll, please, missing owners manuals.

00:19:18.880 --> 00:19:20.960
What they didn't give them owner's manual.

00:19:21.119 --> 00:19:23.920
Yeah, you know, they're supposed to download that into your car these days.

00:19:24.160 --> 00:19:25.200
They don't have the paper ones.

00:19:25.279 --> 00:19:30.079
Well, a lot of a lot of manufacturers don't have paper ones anymore.

00:19:30.319 --> 00:19:33.359
Yeah, they get they tell you go look it online at a 400-page book.

00:19:33.759 --> 00:19:36.000
No, mine came on mine came in a USB.

00:19:36.160 --> 00:19:37.359
They gave me mine in a USB.

00:19:37.680 --> 00:19:42.640
Well, i i if you go into the menu of your vehicle, yeah, there's the manual in there.

00:19:42.880 --> 00:19:54.160
Anyway, besides all of those, they're also recalling the Ford Explorer 25 to 26 for passenger side headlight malfunction, whatever that is.

00:19:54.319 --> 00:19:57.039
I guess the headlights hanging out over the whatever.

00:19:57.279 --> 00:20:12.079
Um, also, speaking of Fords, Bronco, Bronco Sport, Escape, Explorer, Maverick, Mustang, Ranger, Corsair on the Lincoln side along with the Nautilus 2025 loss of drive power from EGR valve failure.

00:20:12.319 --> 00:20:12.720
Uh-oh.

00:20:13.039 --> 00:20:15.599
It wouldn't be right if we didn't have a whole list of Fords.

00:20:16.079 --> 00:20:16.640
That's what I'm thinking.

00:20:16.720 --> 00:20:18.240
What would recall be without Ford?

00:20:18.640 --> 00:20:20.160
Oh, well, here's some more.

00:20:21.759 --> 00:20:23.680
Um, no, that's escape trailers.

00:20:23.839 --> 00:20:24.160
I was thinking.

00:20:25.119 --> 00:20:25.200
Okay.

00:20:25.279 --> 00:20:26.960
Well, I guess that's it for Fords.

00:20:27.599 --> 00:20:30.960
But um I do have another vehicle here.

00:20:31.200 --> 00:20:35.920
Um, and it is lane departure warning is deactivated, as it should be in all cars.

00:20:36.319 --> 00:20:40.319
Audi A6, A7, Q8, uh 2019.

00:20:40.400 --> 00:20:41.599
That's being recalled for that.

00:20:41.920 --> 00:20:44.400
Toyota Highlander and Highlander hybrid.

00:20:44.640 --> 00:20:47.200
Second row seatbacks may fail to lock.

00:20:47.920 --> 00:20:50.000
21 to 24 model years.

00:20:50.559 --> 00:20:54.880
And Mercedes-Benz GLA250, incorrectly installed.

00:20:54.960 --> 00:20:57.839
Cable may prevent the door from opening.

00:20:58.319 --> 00:21:03.920
And the Kia K4 and the Kia Telluride 2627 seatbelt buckle may not latch.

00:21:04.240 --> 00:21:04.880
That's not good.

00:21:04.960 --> 00:21:05.359
Martha.

00:21:05.599 --> 00:21:08.400
I think you would I think you'd probably know that right away, wouldn't you?

00:21:08.799 --> 00:21:09.519
Hang on, hang on.

00:21:10.000 --> 00:21:10.240
Hang on.

00:21:10.720 --> 00:21:11.440
No, one of these.

00:21:11.839 --> 00:21:12.480
Hold on.

00:21:13.039 --> 00:21:14.720
I know I'm stopping, I'm turning the coin just holding.

00:21:16.160 --> 00:21:20.000
Yeah, and you know when they used to have bench seats, that was easy to do, but now you've got bucket seats.

00:21:20.079 --> 00:21:21.839
You gotta reach way on over there.

00:21:22.079 --> 00:21:23.440
There's a problem with that, Morris.

00:21:24.559 --> 00:21:26.400
How about getting a late model car?

00:21:27.279 --> 00:21:28.079
Just saying.

00:21:28.480 --> 00:21:29.039
Why?

00:21:29.359 --> 00:21:29.920
Why?

00:21:30.880 --> 00:21:32.480
What year is that truck?

00:21:33.519 --> 00:21:34.000
2015.

00:21:34.559 --> 00:21:34.960
15.

00:21:35.359 --> 00:21:36.079
Oh, 15.

00:21:36.240 --> 00:21:36.559
Yes.

00:21:36.720 --> 00:21:38.480
Did you ever get that exhaust leak fixed?

00:21:38.640 --> 00:21:39.440
Yes, I did.

00:21:39.599 --> 00:21:40.079
You did?

00:21:40.240 --> 00:21:40.960
Yeah, it did.

00:21:41.119 --> 00:21:42.799
How much did that cost and what did they do?

00:21:42.960 --> 00:21:43.519
Don't ask.

00:21:43.680 --> 00:21:46.720
They replaced all the bolts and the manifolds, but they didn't get the broken.

00:21:46.960 --> 00:21:47.759
The exhaust manifold?

00:21:47.839 --> 00:21:48.480
Yeah, it didn't get broken.

00:21:48.720 --> 00:21:49.119
It was the bolts.

00:21:50.880 --> 00:21:51.519
Didn't know the break.

00:21:51.599 --> 00:21:51.680
Yeah.

00:21:51.759 --> 00:21:52.400
Didn't know to break.

00:21:52.640 --> 00:21:53.359
Was it a recall?

00:21:53.519 --> 00:21:53.680
Nope.

00:21:53.839 --> 00:21:53.920
No.

00:21:54.160 --> 00:21:55.119
It was not a recall.

00:21:55.839 --> 00:21:57.519
So you had to pay cash money out of your pocket.

00:21:57.839 --> 00:21:58.480
Out of your pocket.

00:21:59.039 --> 00:21:59.839
How much did that cost you?

00:22:00.240 --> 00:22:01.599
I was like a thousand dollars.

00:22:02.480 --> 00:22:02.880
Both of 'em?

00:22:03.200 --> 00:22:04.079
Yeah, for both sides.

00:22:04.319 --> 00:22:04.880
Just one bolt.

00:22:05.839 --> 00:22:06.240
Yeah, I know.

00:22:06.480 --> 00:22:08.480
You gotta go in through the fender well to get to 'em.

00:22:08.559 --> 00:22:08.720
Yeah.

00:22:08.880 --> 00:22:10.559
And you gotta have a tap and a die.

00:22:10.799 --> 00:22:16.559
Oh, you can the guy told me he said if I break one of these off inside that block, it's really gonna be expensive.

00:22:16.880 --> 00:22:19.359
Yeah, because you gotta tap the the bolt that's in there.

00:22:19.519 --> 00:22:21.279
Yeah, yeah, that's not good.

00:22:23.119 --> 00:22:24.400
Uh I'm gonna let you hold that.

00:22:24.720 --> 00:22:26.319
Hold that because I don't want to mess that up.

00:22:26.559 --> 00:22:26.799
Okay.

00:22:27.039 --> 00:22:29.680
Um let's do sold cars.

00:22:29.839 --> 00:22:33.599
I can either do uh story of the week or I can do the sold cars.

00:22:33.839 --> 00:22:34.960
Let's do sold cars.

00:22:35.519 --> 00:22:35.839
Okay.

00:22:36.480 --> 00:22:40.319
And this is kind of fitting because the Cadienti is a 61.

00:22:40.400 --> 00:22:44.079
Here is a 63, Cadillac coupe de ville.

00:22:44.960 --> 00:22:49.519
It is a uh hard top, and it looks all original in stock.

00:22:49.920 --> 00:22:53.119
And how much would you pay for a Cadillac coupe de ville?

00:22:53.359 --> 00:22:59.200
Blue in color, white wall tires, not the wide whites, no, they weren't in style back in 1963.

00:22:59.519 --> 00:23:02.079
It looks like a stock card, it looks like it's out in the desert somewhere.

00:23:02.480 --> 00:23:03.279
I'm gonna go 12 grand.

00:23:03.599 --> 00:23:04.240
12 grand.

00:23:04.720 --> 00:23:07.759
Um David, would you like to uh David participate in this?

00:23:08.079 --> 00:23:09.039
I'll I'll participate.

00:23:09.200 --> 00:23:09.839
13,000.

00:23:10.079 --> 00:23:10.720
13,000.

00:23:10.880 --> 00:23:12.400
Sold for 15,488.

00:23:13.599 --> 00:23:14.079
Which is not bad.

00:23:15.599 --> 00:23:17.039
George came in at 15,998.

00:23:17.279 --> 00:23:17.920
Well, George and Win.

00:23:18.640 --> 00:23:19.519
Yeah, right there at the end.

00:23:19.599 --> 00:23:20.880
So George guys, all right.

00:23:20.960 --> 00:23:21.440
So here we go.

00:23:21.680 --> 00:23:23.839
1977 Chevy Nova.

00:23:24.079 --> 00:23:24.640
I got this for you.

00:23:24.880 --> 00:23:25.519
Thank you, sir.

00:23:26.000 --> 00:23:30.559
77 Red Nova, black walls, and looks like stock wheels.

00:23:31.039 --> 00:23:31.519
Eight grand.

00:23:32.000 --> 00:23:32.559
Eight grand.

00:23:33.039 --> 00:23:33.359
Okay.

00:23:33.680 --> 00:23:36.319
Uh let me just say this before you dump in that eight grand.

00:23:37.599 --> 00:23:44.799
There's something special about this car, and I'm thinking that it is a uh complete restoration and it may have uh V8 motor under the hood.

00:23:45.279 --> 00:23:52.000
Uh it doesn't signify that as uh with a badge on the side, but uh you want to rebid that 77, 12?

00:23:52.160 --> 00:23:52.319
Okay.

00:23:52.559 --> 00:23:54.799
David, would you 17 17?

00:23:55.039 --> 00:23:57.920
Uh did uh George say anything about uh pricing?

00:23:58.160 --> 00:24:02.960
No, uh uh and uh well this one here is sold for$22,050.

00:24:03.519 --> 00:24:05.119
Yeah there's something special about that car.

00:24:05.359 --> 00:24:06.000
Mine was a$72.

00:24:06.480 --> 00:24:10.400
Jeff Heitzman came in at$20 under the wire, but well uh Jeff Heitzman would have won.

00:24:10.720 --> 00:24:11.440
He'd been the closest.

00:24:11.599 --> 00:24:12.079
All right, next up.

00:24:13.119 --> 00:24:13.440
Next up.

00:24:13.519 --> 00:24:15.920
Uh are you into mobster-looking cars?

00:24:16.240 --> 00:24:18.079
Man, I'm telling you, this is fine.

00:24:18.400 --> 00:24:22.079
A 1939 Cadillac Series 61.

00:24:22.400 --> 00:24:25.759
It's a two-door coupe with those huge fenders on it.

00:24:26.079 --> 00:24:27.200
Wide whites.

00:24:27.359 --> 00:24:29.119
This thing is immaculate.

00:24:29.440 --> 00:24:34.640
And boy, I'll tell you what, that's real tempting to sell that Corvette and buy me one of those.

00:24:34.880 --> 00:24:35.440
42.

00:24:35.839 --> 00:24:37.279
42, Jeff says.

00:24:37.599 --> 00:24:38.960
David, would you like to join in?

00:24:39.279 --> 00:24:39.759
47.

00:24:40.240 --> 00:24:40.799
47?

00:24:41.200 --> 00:24:41.519
Okay.

00:24:41.920 --> 00:24:46.079
Did uh did any of our other viewers chime in?

00:24:46.559 --> 00:24:49.200
Jeff Heitman says 39,000.

00:24:49.599 --> 00:24:50.160
39.

00:24:52.160 --> 00:24:53.279
Did George say anything?

00:24:53.839 --> 00:24:57.039
Well, I can tell you that it sold for$30,450.

00:24:58.720 --> 00:25:03.039
Okay, car number four, 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser.

00:25:04.079 --> 00:25:11.359
Now, for some reason, people find these really appealing, and I I get it, and I appreciate it.

00:25:11.519 --> 00:25:13.440
79 Toyota Land Cruiser.

00:25:14.000 --> 00:25:17.519
It looks like it's been really well taken care of.

00:25:17.920 --> 00:25:19.680
Um restored, actually.

00:25:19.920 --> 00:25:23.279
Yeah, there's a lot of pictures in the in the portfolio gallery of it.

00:25:23.839 --> 00:25:26.240
79 Toyota Land Cruiser, how much?

00:25:26.720 --> 00:25:27.279
21.

00:25:27.759 --> 00:25:28.640
30,000.

00:25:28.960 --> 00:25:29.759
30,000.

00:25:30.160 --> 00:25:30.960
Anyone else?

00:25:31.519 --> 00:25:32.880
Well, I will tell you, Jeff Wins.

00:25:37.119 --> 00:25:37.599
Wow.

00:25:37.839 --> 00:25:38.960
And I don't even like the beauty.

00:25:39.200 --> 00:25:40.079
Here's one for you, Mars.

00:25:40.240 --> 00:25:42.559
You can get rid of the Dodge and get yourself a Ford.

00:25:42.799 --> 00:25:45.759
Here's a 1993 Ford F-250.

00:25:45.920 --> 00:25:46.160
Yeah.

00:25:46.480 --> 00:25:48.000
So it's a three-quarter ton.

00:25:48.079 --> 00:25:52.079
It looks like they put some steak bed stuff in the back of it, but that's nothing.

00:25:52.400 --> 00:25:56.400
But it has been some modifications to it, like those ugly running boards.

00:25:56.720 --> 00:25:58.960
Uh 93 Ford F-250.

00:25:59.039 --> 00:26:00.079
What do you think that that's sold for?

00:26:00.319 --> 00:26:00.880
It looks clean.

00:26:01.039 --> 00:26:01.759
I'm gonna go 10.

00:26:02.000 --> 00:26:02.160
10?

00:26:02.400 --> 00:26:02.640
12.

00:26:03.279 --> 00:26:03.759
12?

00:26:04.079 --> 00:26:04.480
David?

00:26:04.880 --> 00:26:05.599
I'm 12.

00:26:05.680 --> 00:26:06.079
That's me.

00:26:06.400 --> 00:26:10.079
11,550 is what it sold for.

00:26:10.480 --> 00:26:10.720
Okay?

00:26:10.880 --> 00:26:12.079
How are we doing on time?

00:26:12.640 --> 00:26:13.200
Doing okay?

00:26:13.519 --> 00:26:14.000
Uh you are.

00:26:14.319 --> 00:26:14.960
Yeah, okay, good.

00:26:15.119 --> 00:26:15.920
We got a couple of minutes.

00:26:16.000 --> 00:26:16.240
Okay, so we're gonna do that.
