Okay , well , the man lived , so I guess it's joyous , joy , joy , joy , joy . A northern Illinois Toyota dealership to employee was stabbed by a customer in the store's showroom on October 23rd and treated for a non-life-threatening injury . Dekalb Police Department said the customer at Brian Bemis Toyota of DeKalb , roughly 65 miles west of downtown Chicago , blues Brothers area , became upset and brandished a knife in the dealership showroom . The man attacked employees and stabbed one of them in an extremity . They didn't say which extremity Could be an arm , leg , could be or anything else Finger . The department said in a news release the employee was treated at the scene .

Police received a call from the dealership at 1225 . Officers responded shortly thereafter . According to the release this is a story I got from Automotive News Police said the man refused orders to drop the knife and instead moved toward officers who shot him In the extremity . No , that was the employee that got the stabbing . Cbs News Chicago reported that police said they were told the man with the knife walked in and appeared as if he were looking at vehicles . Suspect received first aid and was flown to a hospital in Rockford for medical attention . The department said it also said it was not releasing his identity pending further investigation , brian Bemis' Toyota opened for regular business the next day , according to a post on its Facebook page . The Illinois State Police will conduct an independent investigation , dekalb Police said saying .

Well besides being in the car , where are you ? I actually just had to make a run to Steel Supply because we are thrashing on putting a roll cage together Very , very young team to go race lemons this coming weekend and we've got like six days to do the cage . So you know , we started out this morning . So you know , let's make some magic happen .

We do it all . We start from scratch . We bend everything , we notch everything , we weld it , we get it inspected . You show up to the track ready to race .

Lemons . They inspect on site , but what we do is we get our local SCCA inspector to come over and verify all the cages before they leave .

Honestly , I would say there are nicer cars at Lemons than there are at some SCCA races . It's pretty bizarre , but people choose what to spend their money and time on and where they want to go have fun . Lemons is more geared towards having fun , which is what our November event is about as well . It's just let's get together with a bunch of our friends and our race cars and get on track and have a good time and close out the year on a positive note , instead of some of all the other crap we've been dealing with this year .

No , but we have run a cuda . Uh , there have been voyagers out there , uh , 52 um . God , what is the name of the car ? Anyway , it ran an old 396 hemi um ran out there with us as well and that was beautiful .

uh , a ford , taurus of all things , and it's the , uh , what I call plantation gold , harvest gold , what they call it it is brown , it is horrible , it's brown come on .

So you started out . I wanted to ask you you started out down in Mexico . You went down there for two races , but you only got to do one .

We went down there for two races . So normally the San Pedro Material Hill climb in Baja , about six hours south in Ensenada , and then we have two days off and then we go to Tecate and we run a nine-mile loop .

They do make some beer there . You see why I go now . You understand , right , God ? So it's a nine-mile loop . You no , Lou , you do it three times . Well , that was also supposed to be a two-day event and it got cut down to a half-day event . A half-day , yeah . We decided we weren't going to sit there in Mexico for two and a half days drinking beer .

Everything that you're doing on public roads has to get permits and approvals from multiple sources , and they were missing one of the approvals that was going to give them the friday access to the facility . So we came back and , uh , our heads were hung low , kind of like well , it sucks to go home early , but we're going to go home early . We missed a race and then we saw big bend was , uh , doing their fall race and made some phone calls they had lost like five entries and said , hey , if you guys want to come on , come on , we're like we're on our way , so hammer down . Five hours away we show up and I guess less than 18 hours later we're on the road with them racing .

It was only me and the driver , scott Butler , so we took his Corvette C5 , corvette , one that looks like Don's , but it's been to Mad Max and back .

So it's a little more used . Yes , not in the shape Don's is in , by any means Not at all , does it still have the LS1 engine in it ?

Correct , ls1 engine in it , correct LS1 , same intake , same throttle body . It's all stock-stock . We actually just put a brand new motor in it before we left . So , in other words , this car has been thrashed upon 277,000 miles and I bet we've probably put 15 to 20 on it racing 1,000 miles of racing , gee whiz .

Well , I guess it's a testament to the LS1 motor and the Corvette as a matter of fact .

Yeah , the LS1 is pretty amazing . The only thing I would ever cuss the Corvette about is that doggone torque tube is no fun to work on . Yeah , you ought to know , yeah , been on a couple of those , yeah , but yeah , you ought to know .

We've seen videos of that . We don't want to do that . After chunking rubber no , it was a pace car in a roundy , round race , chunking all of the rubber that it picked up on the track all the way home . Everything was out of balance .

So what about your race coming up at MSR ? That's going to be a .

Yeah . So MSR , we're starting early in the morning , 8 am . We're doing a four-hour enduro , so you'll see some cars , you'll see SCCA cars out there and we're going to run for four hours straight on a 200-threadware tire and see who can be fastest . We're going to give away $1,000 to the winning team , required to have two drivers minimum , maximum of four . And then the rest of the day we play with some time trials , some high performance driving events , which is a gateway to get people onto the track . They call it a gateway drug . Um , you basically pay your 150 bucks and come out there and you get an hour and a half of track time . You get some classroom time . Uh , we've got instructors go out there and teach you how to not be dawn . So at the end of the day then we call it probably , which is a bracket race for road racing , but it's in reverse . So we'll have probably 50 to 60 cars that start at separate times and at the end of the race , in theory , they should all be crossing the finish line together I didn't know that a reverse gear could actually take that kind of hammering oh yeah absolutely

reverse gear . So so when you so bracket racing , like in drag race , so you're gonna let them start at a little separation , with the idea that they're all going to finish at the same time correct , they're all going to be on the track at the same time . Yes , we base it on a 45 minute race .

So instead of it being 15 seconds , 12 seconds , like you're seeing in drag race now , you will have cars that will start two laps down race based on a 45-minute race . You're in a fast car , you're going to be sitting in pit lane for two laps before you get to take to the track and you have to catch that car and pass him twice before the finish of the race to be in the front .

At Lemons . I will be in a 1974 Mazda Rotary pickup . Think of the Ford Courier , but with a 13B Rotary .

Well , my customer does , and they've invited me and another guy to drive with them . So how do ? You so we'll be running that around and then we'll be wrenching out other people's cars , helping them get things back on track .

What are you doing for weight balance on that pickup ? Are you putting more weight in the back , or how does that work ?

Lemons does require a fuel cell if you go away from factory . So we put a 32-gallon fuel cell in it and moved it all the way to the back . Now , granted , it's higher than we would like , but , same as you said , we need some weight over the rear end . There's very little weight on the front because the front rotary is so small . So it's okay . We're not going out there to be fast in that truck , we're going out there to have a good time and have people go . What the hell are you doing ? It's about enjoying the park a little bit you know .

So how are you going to run this event if you're behind the wheel ?

I've got plenty of staff that assist me with all things and I won't run every event Like the enduro . I'll probably drive an hour of the four hours All the classroom stuff . I'll be teaching that , or I'll have Eric be teaching that when we get to the end of the day . Those races I won't be able to be a part of because they happen so quickly . Some 25-minute sprint races , standing starts , which we don't see in road race anymore , so that's why we're bringing those back to our series Make it a little bit different . Hopefully see a couple of vintage cars come out there as well . We've got some 914s and a couple other Porsche guys are going to show up too , so it should be entertaining .

watch $0 for my event on the 30th . Just come out , come be a part of it , come be a car gearhead , like us . If you show up to women's , I think they've charged 20 on race day to watch you have to watch , but our event on the 30th is free , which the theory was there . It's after thanksgiving , um , after all , the women have been out shopping friday , they're going to be curled up saturday at home . All of us men can go race the track and have our day .

What's interesting is driving them . They make so little torque you wonder if you're actually moving . And when the turbo spools up and you get the horsepower , it just rips right along , but it's no torque . It does interesting to see mazda bring that in a truck , because that's the worst thing about a truck is . I mean , what you're looking for in a truck is torque , you're not looking for horsepower .

All right time now , uh , for the powerful buick motors , oh yeah , baby , here we go the five most powerful buicks ever made . It's difficult to find an american manufacturer that didn't produce some of the most performance cars during the muscle car golden age . Buick was no exception . Iconic models such as the GSX Stage 1 wowed onlookers . Here we go with the first one . This is a 1960 Electra 225 . It's a 6.5 liter V8 , liter v8 , 325 horsepower , 450 , 445 foot pounds of torque , zero to 60 , don in 10 seconds . The buick electra was the brand's full-size luxury car over three decades , the car designed to transport passengers in peace and comfort . So the next one we have here is a 1971 buick Riviera GS . Look at that bad boy . 7.5 liter V8 , 330 horsepower , 455 foot-pounds of torque , 0 to 60 in what ? 8.1 seconds . The second and third generation Riviera is one of the most distinctive looking cars ever made by Buick , especially from the rear end , with the large powerful bulge featured in the trunk . Don Be careful , there you go . The Riviera certainly wasn't short of power , but think twice about trying to carry that pace through the tight corners . Next one we have is the 1970 Electra . It's just a beautiful car . Look at that . 7.5-liter V8 , 370 horsepower , 510 on the foot-pounds of torque , with a 0 to 60 at 7.1 mike .

As the 70s kicked off , the age of ultra high power , big v8s was coming to an end . Tightening the emissions by the government regulations meant that power was starting to be capped . The manufacturers pushed on , though . While it made the same 500 foot pounds of torque as did the GSX , the engine was tuned to create an extra 10 horsepower . That is amazing . The next one we have is a 65 Riviera . Got a pattern here . This one is a 7-liter V8 . It is 360 horsepower , 465 foot-pounds of torque , 0 to 60 in 8.0 seconds .

While the 71 Riviera was pretty stout , the most beautiful of the bunch was the 65 Grand Sport model . I cannot disagree with that . Buick made it possible for a pair of rabid four-barrel carburetors and dual exhaust system . Limited slip diff also came as part of the deal , while heavy-duty suspension was also available as an option to ensure to tackle the bends around effectively . So there you go with that . That's a beauty . And the last one we have this one , brings back a reminiscence in my heart .

My Aunt Jean had one of these cars . My cousin Douglas , who's a friend of the show . This was a beautiful car . I love this car . It's a 7-liter V8 , 360 horsepower , 465 foot-pounds of torque , 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds . I think you need a roll cage or something like that . The Wildcat sat below the Electra and the Buick's range is more of the performance-geared luxury offering . Its smaller size and therefore lighter weight meant it was more agile and the road it was quicker on the straights . So the Super Wildcat GS was a handy sleeper . It looked largely like a normal model , but with the sportier wheels . That puppy gave it away .

Well , I probably did , but it's actually the 2025 Buick . I mean 2025 GMC , sierra , denali Ultimate . Now this is part of the fourth gen . It was actually introduced in 2019 , so they keep updating and keep kind of tweaking things up . It actually has eight trim levels on it , with the Denali Ultra being at the very top . So this is a full-size pickup . This particular version will seat five .

So you've got all kinds of things that make it the luxury truck . It is the power folding side mirrors . Got power adjustable steps that actually work . I mean , they come out , they're good to step on , to step up into the vehicle , because it's running on some 22-inch wheels so it sets up a little bit high . Had the GMC multi-pro tailgate Now this is a six-way tailgate that drops down . Got speakers in it , all kinds of cool things Power sunroof , power rear glass that opens up and closes .

But when you get inside of it , just whenever you really find the luxury the leather seating surfaces . The front seats are vented . The front seats and the rear seat outer settings are heated . The front seats also have massage settings on them and the rear seat is a 60-40 folding rear seat . That's got under seat storage built into it . It's part of a package that you can add on to this vehicle . Now we had a 13.4 inch diagonal screen in the center stack there . That makes it very easy to see things , understand what you're doing and stuff . Some of the buttons are kind of small . You got to kind of look , look for them , but with that big screen makes things a lot easier . The driver has a 12.3 inch display in front of him that we used to call a gauge package , but there's also a 15 inch diagonal heads-up display . Now this is plenty of stuff up there in the windshield that you can set up and you can use . And it has the rear camera mirror on it . I've come to love that thing a whole lot because of the way it , the width , how big a view you can get out of that . Those are cool . Now we also had the smart charger with . It's got a nice slot in front of the console for your phone to fit into and it has a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system in it , so it kind of fills it up really nice with sounds .

Now under the hood we had the 6.2 liter v8 . Love this engine 420 horsepower , 460 pound feet of torque , plenty of power , plenty of speed , 10 speed automatic transmission and this vehicle . It's not the biggest but it will tow 8900 pounds with the trailer and package that we had included in it , pretty good . Haul rating is 1710 . These half ton trucks they haul 1700 , 2000 pounds are amazing . Curb weight on this thing is 5350 . So it's a nice big heavy truck .

Epa says in the city you should be looking for 15 miles to the gallon highway , 19 combined , 16 . Now gmc does recommend premium fuel for this particular engine . I got 19.6 over 138.9 miles , so most of mine was out on the highway but I'll take it all day long . We also had the Denali adaptive suspension , so it almost makes you feel like just going down the highway , almost makes you feel like you're no longer in a truck . It's very nice , got plenty of quiet glass and insulation in it , so when you turn up the audio you can drown out any road noise that you got . Now base model for a Sierra Sierra is $45,995 . Wow , but a base trim for the Denali is $67,395 . Our MSRP , with a few options that we had and it is the top-of-the-line ultimate $86,805 for this full-size truck , hubba , hubba .

Now if you want to look for something to compare it to , of course you've got to look at the Ford F-150 , the 2025 . For example , the STX based on its 42,915 compared to the 45,995 for the GMC Silverado , 2025 , 1,500 . Crew cab $4,2700 . The Ram $1,500 , $2,025 . Crew cab is at $4,3025 . So they all start about the same place . It kind of depends on what you want to put into it and how much you want to doll it up and what you want to get out of it . But they've all got wonderful choices to make them great vehicles . So Wonderful choices to make them great vehicles . So if you're looking at some of those big three for the trucks , you need to absolutely look at the .
